Jewel Thomas “Tom” Smith, 90, of Fordsville, passed away March 17, 2026 at Woodbridge Healthcare in Evansville. 

He was born November 23, 1935 to the late Clarence Raleigh and Eunice Graham Smith. Tom was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #142. He was a diesel mechanic for Artin Steel Transportation before retirement. He was a lover of animals, and had a passion for horses, enjoying horseback riding and horse shows. He was always willing to help his community, lending a hand with mechanical issues when needed.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Michael Neeley; brother James William Smith, and brother-in-law Albert Bruno.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jovonne Smith; children Raleigh Smith of Owensboro, Greg (Peggy) Smith of Wheatfield, IN, Charlotte (Bob) Neeley of Wheatfield, IN, and John (Gayle) Smith of Jonesborough, TN; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Jo Bruno of Cedar Lake, Indiana; sister-in-law Suzanne Smith of Fordsville; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday March 20, 2026 at Providence Baptist Church in Fordsville. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church. A private burial in Smith-Providence Cemetery will follow at a later date. Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville is in charge of arrangements.
