Laura Martha Payne, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab.

She was born August 23, 1938, to Joseph Paul and Mary Webb Henning.  She was married to Ralph Payne on November 11, 1961 until he died on December 2, 2011.  She was a member of St John Catholic Church in Fordsville most of her adult life.  Martha retired from Commonwealth Community Bank in Fordsville.  She enjoyed fishing, doing word searches, time with family and playing Yahtzee, bunco, board games and card games.

Martha was predeceased by her husband Ralph, her parents; sister Rita O’Reilly (Earl); brothers Fidelis Henning (Barb), and Gene Henning. She is survived by brothers Joe Henning (Helen), Leo Henning (Judy), Aloysius Henning (Becky); sisters Rosemary Spiller (Jack), Laverne Maccabee (John), Bernadette Arrant (Gary); sisters-in-law, Sue Henning, Shirley Allen, Joyce Coomes, Marcia Bradley (Charlie); and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held at 9am Saturday, December 6, 2025 at St. John Catholic Church in Fordsville with entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Philpot. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 7pm at Geary Funeral Home.
