Mary Mae Edge Smith, 87, went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 8, 2025.

She was born on March 26, 1938 to the late Ernest and Georgia Richards Edge. She retired from Fordsville Nursing and Rehabilitation after 41 years. She was a member of Newton Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 21 years. Mary enjoyed yard work, her flowers and her family. She was often piddling, always keeping herself busy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings George William Edge, Ernest Everett Edge, Hubert Edge, Lawrence Edge, James Edge, Jack Edge and Emogene Edge Rearden; sister-in-law Peggy Edge, and brother-in-law Johnny Jarboe.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Kenneth Smith; daughter and son-in-law Marlene & Michael Robbins; grandchildren Nicolas & Sara Robbins and Andrew & Megan Robbins; great-grandchildren Sloane and Jackson Robbins; siblings Homer (Peachie) Edge, Denny (Sharon) Edge, Irvin Edge, Margaret Jarboe; in-laws Donny & Pam Smith, Willya Ann Edge and Joan Edge.

Pallbearers are Nicholas and Andrew Robbins, Adam and Jack Jarboe, Donny and Cory Smith; honorary pallbearers Homer, Denny and Irvin Edge.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Ohio County, her special nurse Felecia Geary, and the following angels: Margaret, Donny, Pam, Martha and Jennifer.

Funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Newton Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am to service time Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville is in charge of arrangements.
