Sharon Kay Sweet, 69, of Owensboro, passed away August 5, 2025 at UofL Health Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
She was born February 4, 1956 to the late Marvin & Stella Robinson. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Sharon retired as a revenue officer with the Internal Revenue Service after 35 years. She loved golf, participating in charitable events and UofL basketball. Even though she had no children of her own, Sharon loved her nieces and nephews with all of her heart and cherished her family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Sweet.
She is survived by her sister Carol (Mickey) Taylor of Owensboro; nieces and nephew Amanda (Timmy) Bittel of Owensboro, Kevin (Melanie) Clark of Owensboro, Bethanie (Brad) Cantrell of Louisville; great-nieces and nephews Kelsey (Max) Boswell, Kendall Bittel, Olivia Clark, Westin Clark, Stella Clark; great-great-nieces and nephew Addison, Raylee and Malcolm Boswell; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Owensboro Friday, August 8th from 4 to 6pm. A graveside service will be held at 11am Saturday, August 9th at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fordsville. Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville is in charge of arrangements
