Thomas "Gene" O'Bryan Obituary

Thomas “Gene” O’Bryan, 85, of Reynolds Station, passed away March 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by loved ones. 


He was born February 21, 1941 in Owensboro, Ky to the late Francis Ellis and Ann Lobia (Finwick) O’Bryan. He married his soulmate Carolyn Crowder O’Bryan in 1967. Gene retired in 2002 from Century after working as a welder for 30 years. He was a member and deacon of Fordsville Baptist Church. He worked in numerous areas in church and took great pleasure in doing God’s work. He went on several mission trips, including a medical mission trip to Honduras. As a young man he served in the United States Army. His pleasure and passion was his family.


Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Timothy Eugene O’Bryan; son-in-law Buzzy Reynolds; siblings Mary Edwina (Louis) Jackson, Dorothy (Fred) Sikes, Wilma (Bill) McManaway, Francis (Ollie) O’Bryan, Charles (Fay) O’Bryan, Donald O’Bryan, and Helen (Bob) Richards.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn O’Bryan; daughter Marla Reynolds; grandchildren Thomika (Phillip) Page, Nathan (Erin) Clark, and Austin O’Bryan, great-grandchildren Connor and Graycie Clark; and many nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, March 27, 2026 at Fordsville Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 3pm to 7pm and Friday from 9am until service time. Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville is in charge of arrangements.
